Receiving sms overseas

I am living in the USA. My phone which I use in bucharest is a prepay with money in the account. Recently, the account was disconnected because it did not have money. I added more money and now the account is active again. However, I am no longer able to receive SMS. I need to SMS to operate my bank account in ING Bank. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's odd, I as a local Romanian friend to send me a sms, could not receive that here in the USA either

Most likely the SIM/account lost its international roaming/SMS service when it was suspended for insufficient credit. Even after recharging, roaming may not have been fully reactivated, which would explain why you cannot receive SMS in the US even from another Romanian number.

Youshould contact the Romanian operator and ask them to reactivate international roaming and incoming SMS while roaming and refresh/reprovision the SIM.

Cel mai probabil, cartela SIM/contul și-a pierdut serviciul de roaming internațional/SMS atunci când a fost suspendat din cauza lipsei de credit. Chiar și după reîncărcare, este posibil ca roamingul să nu fi fost reactivat complet, ceea ce ar explica de ce nu mai poți primi SMS-uri în SUA, nici măcar de la un număr din România.

Ar trebui să contactezi operatorul și să soliciți reactivarea roamingului internațional și a SMS-urilor primite în roaming, precum și reinițializarea/reprovisionarea cartelei SIM.

I tried doing this on my app, but the app has time limits for roaming (like 3 euro for 7 days). I need it on all the time like before. Add more money to the account? what do I need to tell them to turn back on? I have been trying to contact them, no way to do that, they do not answer their whatsapp and I cannot find an email contact for them either. Can you assist?

Yes.  PrePay roaming can be activated with just credit  you don't necessarily need a 7-day package.

Try My Orange -> Services -> Roaming, or dial  *100#  -> Roaming. If roaming was disabled after the account was suspended, Orange support may need to reactivate it manually.

Din păcate, Orange a eliminat opțiunea de activare manuala a roamingului din contul My Orange. Păcat, era o funcție utilă, mai ales în acest caz.

Pai in cazul asta doar la suportul Orange poate rezolva.

Va trebui sa lase un mesaj pe chat pentru activarea manuala. Modificarea actuala din my Orange este lipsită de logica.

Hello @Stargard. In your case, I understand that you want to manually activate roaming and use the services at standard rates. In this case, from MyOrange (app or web account) you can only top up credit (credit top-up section, choosing the amount and making the payment with a CB). To activate the roaming on your account, it is necessary to have at least 1 euro permanently on your account (otherwise roaming will be deactivated). Activation is done by calling *100# "SelfCare" - a number that can be called even without roaming access from the USA in the case of an Orange RO prepaid SIM. 

În acest caz înțeleg că se dorește activarea manuală a roaming-ului și utilizarea serviciilor la tarife standard. În acest caz, din MyOrange poți doar să încarci credit (secțiunea reîncărcare credit alegând valoarea și efectuînd plata). Pentru activarea roamingului este necesar să existe permanent pe cont minim 1euro (altfel roamingul va fi dezactivat). Activarea se face apelând *100# ”SelfCare” - număr apelabil chiar și fără acces roaming din USA în cazul unui SIM prepay Orange RO.

thansk for all the advice, I did try *100#, it does not work out of the US. So I cannot activate roaming 🙄

I got the message the my phone is not registered on the network.... I suspect because it not roaming yet

Will try to contact them on the chat function, it seems like its the only thing that works but its out of working hr now, so I will tray again tomorrow. strange that they do not even have a technical help email

First, can you confirm the signal on this account/SIM? Without signal, your try will be the same: without results. And second: When with this SIM account you made a top-up with more than 5euro? Because I think your number is lost forever and sorry for that: if the SIM card doesn't have any signal.....

I have signal and connection in the USA but I cannot recieve and call or SMS from romania. There is over 100 euros in the account and the account is a prepaid account and is active. When I loging into my online account, it clearly states its active

You have signal and 100euros in your account? Then you need to call SelfCare Orange at *100# and activate manually roaming. Just to know: On your prepaid, the SelfCare number can be called even if you don't have roaming activated. It's easy, if you want, because only you can do this.

I think that there is another important aspect to be considered: the U.S. has shut down 2G and 3G networks, so Orange says that roaming voice and SMS in the U.S. now require VoLTE roaming and a compatible phone (Source)

Make sure these conditions are fulfilled and come back to let us know if it worked.

Cred ca un alt aspect important este faptul ca in SUA au fost inchise retelele 2G și 3G, astfel ca Orange spune ca serviciile de voce si SMS în roaming in SUA necesita acum roaming VoLTE si un telefon compatibil (Sursa )

Asigura-te ca aceste conditii sunt indeplinite si revino sa ne spui daca a functionat.
